Guernsey Post is pleased to announce that, following reassessment, it has achieved Investors in People (IIP) Silver Standard Accreditation.
It is the only utility in Guernsey to achieve IIP endorsement.
The company first received the IIP Standard in 2009 and was subsequently invited to apply for higher accreditation.
This year Guernsey Post exceeded its own expectations and, in recognition of the commitment the company had made to supporting and developing its colleagues, was awarded IIP Silver Standard.
Michael Lynch, IIP Assessor stated:
‘I assessed Guernsey Post over 2 years ago and was delighted to see how they had used the Investors in People framework to support continuous improvement and business development. During this visit, which was an assessment beyond the Standard, I found some exemplar practices in relation to people living the values of the organisation, a learning culture and an environment where continuous improvement was strived for. It was a pleasure completing the assessment.
Boley Smillie, Guernsey Post Chief Executive, said:
"We are extremely pleased to have received this internationally recognised award. It acknowledges the hard work that has taken place right across the business to improve the way we work.
Given the challenges currently facing the postal industry; the award also reflects Guernsey Post's ability to successfully adapt to change.
The development and comprehensive communication of our corporate strategy ensures our colleagues have a clear understanding of the direction our business is taking, aiding our long term success."
As well as recognising the milestones Guernsey Post has achieved, IIP is an excellent benchmark for good business practice and provides the company with an action plan to ensure its continued development.
"We want the very best for all of our Guernsey Post colleagues and IIP has now set us a new challenge - going for Gold." continued Mr Smillie.
