On Friday 6th January 2012, Guernsey Post bid a fond farewell to four of the company's longest serving employees. Posties Brian Vallois, Colin Le Lerre, Tom Norman and Dave Guille have accumulated over 130 years of service at Guernsey Post between them.
Colin Le Lerre, who has worked at Guernsey Post for an incredible 46 years, said:
"Having joined the Post Office as a telegram boy at 15, and then becoming a Postman at 16, I've seen many changes from moving to two new offices to the massive growth in internet shopping. Although I've been bitten a few times by unfriendly dogs and received an electric shock on the cliffs at Jerbourg during a force 12 gale, I have really enjoyed the job especially being outside and meeting the public. I will certainly look back at my time at Guernsey Post with great fondness. I am now looking forward to spending my retirement fishing and working around the home."
Boley Smillie, Guernsey Post's Chief Executive, said:
"Brian, Colin, Tom and Dave have contributed so much of their lives to Guernsey Post, for which we will always be extremely grateful. They are all such great characters and will certainly be missed by their colleagues and customers. On behalf of everyone within the business we wish them all a well deserved and happy retirement."
