Guernsey Post has made the decision to divert the inbound mail - that due in the island this morning - to sea. This results from the continuing difficulties with the Guernsey airport runway as well as our need for a fresh flight crew to get from Bournemouth to Guernsey to operate our outward despatch this evening should a decision be made to reopen the airport today.
We are fortunate to enjoy an excellent working relationship with Ferryspeed which enables us to make decisions such as this at short notice and allows us to ensure that our mail is never more than 24 hours behind when it should have arrived in the island.
The mail will therefore come in overnight, arriving at our sorting office at 05.30 tomorrow, for processing and delivery tomorrow morning.
